Sad news over the weekend on the passing of Paul Newman. What a treasure to have had him as part of our community. Not you typical movie star. I'm glad I had the chance to see him and Joanne in person if only once. If you have any memories you'd like to share about him please leave a comment.

On another topic....as our politicians continue to dance around our financial mess I've decided to look forward to another round of Dancing With the Stars tonight. I think many of the celebs are doing a really great job so far. I agree with Suzie who commented on Lance Bass. I think he's got a good shot at the disco ball. Brooke, Toni and Warren have also been great. I don't know how much longer Cloris Leachman can count on votes to keep her on the show. I've noticed some online articles encouraging people to vote for her in hopes of having her go really wild with her comments on live t-v. My other t-v note for today....last week's season opener of NCIS was well done. Again please feel welcome to comment of you t-v favorites....or if you have an answer to our economic problems...we;ll accept that too. Wendy

First of all if they expect me to watch every minute of a 3-night season premiere...they're out of luck...but I will watch what I can as Dancing With the Stars returns. I thought Monday night's show was pretty entertaining. The celebs are o-k but I like the judges and hosts the best. There aren't many chances to see live t-v performances....and these guys and gals are quick on their feet! The best dances go to Brooke Burke and Toni Braxton....the early leads by far.Too bad comic Jeffrey Ross was so bad, because he was so funny. Cloris Leachman also gave it her all knowing she probably won't be on very long....unless she gets lots of votes from her fans. TV sure ain't what it used to be but I do find this so-called reality show fun to watch. By the way when did game shows with contestants and prizes become "reality shows"? I'll be watching some of the show again tonight and also keeping an eye on NCIS and Fringe. Please write back with any t-v tips you'd like to share. Wendy

I enjoy it when Tommy writes about surveys and the like on his blog....and I've found one that caught my eye. I found it online at LiveScience.com. It says despite our best intentions to eat something healthy, we often choose sugary snacks. Here's the deal...Dutch researchers asked 585 people to pick between four snacks : an apple, a banana, a candy bar and a molasses waffle. About half said they would choose the apple or banana. BUT when presented with the actual snacks a week later, 27- percent of those who had said they'd pick the fruit went for the candy or waffle. More than 90-percent who had initially made an unhealthy choice stuck with it. The researchers figure that while we are in control of our intentions, our actual choices are often made impulsively and unconsciously. What do you think? Personally I'd enjoy the fruit on the waffle! Wendy

I just read Tommy's blog about memories of seven years ago today. Like everyone I still have vivid memories of that day and still have a hard time thinking and talking about it. The moving van was loading our furniture as my husband and I prepared to make the move from Baltimore to Norwalk that day. We'll never forget our Connecticut anniversary. We'll also always remember the great losses suffered that day. Peace, Wendy

...just a few of the tasty treats I enjoyed at the Oyster Festival. What a beautiful evening on Friday as the Oyster Festival opened with a great crowd. Of course Saturday was a different story with Hanna closing the day. But Sunday was perfect! The field at Veterans Park wasn't all that bad...but if you had to throw away those flip-flops don't say I didn't warn you! I had the pleasure of broadcasting from the festival both Friday and Sunday. The entire Coast crew did such a great job with our tent! Hope you had a chance to stop by and enter to win the string of pearls from Jose Grant....to the winner congratulations. Wendy

Hi there....sorry I haven't blogged lately. I was caught up in the lazy, not-so-hazy, days of late August. Great weather...great Olympics and lots of fun and food for me in the past couple of weeks. We've got a few more weeks of summer to enjoy. I'm looking forward to the Oyster Festival this weekend. Hope Hanna does't spoil our fun too much. Please come say hi when you make your visit to the festival. Seeing all the kids waiting for the school bus this week makes me remember how important first-day outfits were and still are. Do you remember any of your favorites??? Mine was 5th grade....purple-paisly mini-dress with bell shaped sleeves and white boots....(that dress is not too different from some of the tops you see today!) Tell me about your favorite school clothes and and other fashion memories.

Wendy
